Jon Uriarte

Jon Uriarte is the curator of Digital Programmes at The Photographers Gallery and curator of Getxophoto International Image Festival and has previously worked with different international institutions including Foto Colectania in Barcelona.

Jon Uriarte was the artistic director of DONE, a programme launched by Foto Colectania which examines the image in the post-digital and Internet era. He has been a guest researcher at MACBA’s Study Centre and has worked as a digital photography consultant for the Landscape Observatory of Catalonia in the development of their Online Image Archive.

Jon has curated group and solo exhibitions as co-founder of Widephoto, an independent platform which organised workshops, performances and self-publishing related events in partnership with different Spanish institutions. Has coordinated the Off Festival and the Best Book Prize of PhotoEspaña and founded the Photobook Club Barcelona.

He tutored photography projects of graduate and postgraduate students in IDEP, where he also worked as director of the Advanced Photography Postgraduate. Jon regularly guests lectures and runs workshops in Spanish photography, film and design schools as EFTI, ESCAC and Elisava. Regularly writes essays and photobook and exhibition reviews for magazines and specialised publications. As selected curator of Parallel Platform of European Photography, he recently curated an exhibition at Le Chateau D’Eau, Toulouse, France.
