Işıl Ezgi Çelik, Digital Curator
I am an academic and an art curator. I conduct interdisciplinary and multicultural research on the transformation of human creativity in connection with technology. I am passionate about art brut and digital art that I consider being at opposite ends of the evolution of human creation. I value the political nature of the artistic activity as what offers new perspectives and what creates new worlds. I consider contemporary forms of art as languages to tell elaborated narratives that push perception on the social phenomenon. My art curatorial work is lead by philosophy and seeks to unfold the manifold faces of the Other in the age of techno-capitalism as the locus of political resistance.
I got my PhD degree on the subject of international cooperation through art from Nagoya University in Japan. I have been working in academia and curating in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Far East. I founded and have been managing the art space capitArt in London to probe the boundaries of contemporaneous art after digitalisation.
